fortenna - a combination of the words “forte” (meaning strong, loud, and also specialty) + “enna” (anne spelled backwards) is a line of handcrafted jewelry and accessories designed and created by jewelry artist Anne Nichelson.
Anne has loved jewelry for as long as she can remember—creating clay brooches as a child for her mother and bringing home special pieces for inspiration when traveling. A few years ago she began immersing herself in the jewelry world. She set up her Massachusetts studio and enrolled in a jewelry design program at Rhode Island School of Design.
In many of her pieces, she uses the lost wax casting method, a way of creating jewelry that encourages experimentation and uniqueness. By hand carving and shaping designs in wax, Anne enjoys the freedom to take designs in bold, raw, and unexpected directions.
